Temporary Home

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:1-6

If you had the choice to go to Heaven right now to be with the Lord or continue living the life you’re living, which would you chose? Be honest with yourself. Are you enjoying your life here on earth? Do you have great family, loyal friends? Do you know exactly where you’re headed in life? Would you give up all of those things to be able to have an eternal home in Heaven and be forever with God?

Paul says that, “So we are ALWAYS confident, knowing that while we are at home in the BODY we are absent from the Lord.” The body that we are in right now is only temporary. The life we are living right now will end. The things we cherish here on earth will no longer be important in eternal glory with Jesus Christ.

“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” What if we were all craving to be absent from our present bodies and desiring to be present with our Heavenly Father? In light of that, think about what would then be important in our lives. In the words of Carrie Underwood don’t ever forget that, “this is our temporary home.”
